最近，我读了一本叫《百万英镑》的书。读完后，最大的感受是：金钱不是万能的。
?百万英镑》讲述了一个美国穷小子在伦敦的一次奇遇。伦敦的两位富翁打赌：把一张无法兑现的百万钞票给一个穷人，看他在一个月内会不会被捕。很快，一个月到了，亨利不仅没有被捕坐牢，并且还有了家庭，过上了天伦之乐的生活。
读完这本书后，我觉得书中的衣服店老板以及其他各种的老板都很可笑：就因为一个人有了一张百万钞票，并且还是无法兑现的，那些老板就免费为亨利服务。但我想：如果我是老板，那么我会拒绝为他的一切服务。因为那张百万钞票是无法兑现的。老板们为他服务了，可自己却什么都得不到，难道为他服务只为了看一眼他那不屑一顾的表情和他那张可以说是“什么价值都没有”的百万钞票吗？我认为不值得。因为我觉得在某种程度上为别人服务是需要报酬的。
可反过来再想想，那时的社会主义是拜金主义的，所有的人都崇拜金钱，所有的人都像中了魔法似的热爱金钱。
我的一位朋友最近跟我说：金钱不是万能的，但没有钱是万万不能的。我一想，可不是嘛！现在干什么不要钱啊？我家最近在办理关于户口问题的证件，还得回老家。车费就得六七百。还得请人吃饭，吃完了还不行，还得给人买这买那。就办个证件就得花好几千！
从这个故事中我懂了：在现实的生活中，不应该把金钱看得太重。有时候金钱虽然能买到自己喜欢的、心爱的东西。但有些时候金钱也买不来做人的基本道德，买不来时间。
拜金主义是可耻的，但等着天上掉馅饼的人也是不应该的，金钱不是万能的，世界上还有好多比金钱更可贵的、更重要的物质。

这个故事主要讲了当马克。吐温身无分文的时候，有两位先生给他了一百万的英镑，打赌他是会饿死，还是会活得好好的!他十分不解，也十分的忐忑!即使他的肚子在咕咕叫，他也不敢用里面的一分一毫!从此，只要买东西，他就会拿出百万英镑来吓唬店家，店家就会主动说：“不要紧，不要紧，欠着吧!”马克。吐温在那时就成名了!他就这样，看透了人世间的人们。在服装店时，他看到了心中只有钱，以貌待人的老板和服务员;看见了可怜，勉强混口饭吃的小吃铺老板……马克。吐温在经历了种种事件后，不仅没花一分钱，还反赚了30万。当马克。吐温带着百万英镑去见两位先生时，两位先生不仅给他找了一个好职位，还把自己的女儿许配给他。
其实在我们生活中这样的事也很常见。有一次我见一个人去一家饭店，他点的菜即普通又便宜，等他坐下后，服务员便不理他了，而是先给那些花钱多的人上菜。那个人催了又催，服务员才慢慢吞吞冷淡的上了菜。这是一个极无礼的举动，上菜应讲究先来后到而不是付钱的多少。
除此之外，我还很佩服哼利。亚当斯。他在得到那么大的一笔财富后，仍然保持着诚实的品格，并没有想方设法的想得到那一百万英镑，而是老实做人，靠自己理智的头脑获得他该得的财富。而且亨利并没有在变的阔气之后，傲慢的瞧不起别人，反而帮助他的朋友一起成为真正的大富翁。

based on mark twains novel， the millionaire pound note takes an interesting satirical look at the hypocrisy stemming from class distinction in the 50s england. england is a country where class and wealth are given extreme significance， especially among the rich. the film shows the hypocrisy that existed among these people， how the rich are quick to change face when in an instant they find out that youre a man of wealth and how within the next moment they revert back to their condescending selves when all wealth is lost. interestingly， the millionaire also briefly looks at how the english perceived americans in that era. rich americans were weled as outsiders and the poor were quickly shunned away. the fact that hes an outsider either makes him more appealing or the plete opposite. the story sticks to the main theme by emphasizing on the hypocrisy of the upper class society but at the same time it also creates a balance that prevents the movie from being a mockery of the british society. the movie drags at some point but the love story appears at the right time and there is plenty of edy to keep one entertained.
a charming gregory peck totally nails the part and the luminous jane griffiths is a treat. reginald beckwith， as pecks sidekick rock is amusing. the ending is a little predictable but the director does an overall good job by rounding it up and presenting his points.
