　　My first encounter with a Tibetan doctor was actuallyin 2002 when I suffered from severe lumbago anddiarrhea. Nam Gyatso"s father suggested me to seea local Tibetan doctor. Tsultrim Gyatso, a communityTibetan doctor who previously practiced medicine inthe Dege Printery for several years until he retired.He returned to live in a village. By accident, he cameto the downtown of the county to provide medicalservice on the day when I was there. In an old Tibetantraditional house situated behind Dege Printery, hechecked my urine and pulse and then prescribed aseven-day Tibetan medicine. Amongst those drugs,I was required to swallow one kind of special pill atthe most personally suitable moment according tothe calendar, i.e., before the sun rose on the dawn ofWednesday morning. I was also asked not to let anywomen see this special pill. With an attitude of "1"11 tryanything once", I followed the doctor"s instruction totake all the pills.
