　　《穿靴子的猫》讲述的是《怪物史莱克》里那只萌猫在遇到史莱克前的故事。这只来自孤儿院的猫多年来行侠仗义，行走江湖，却背负着逃犯的污名。原因是儿时被好友矮蛋出卖，被认定是偷窃银行的恶贼。为了洗脱污名，靴子猫决定暂时放下仇恨，与矮蛋和小母猫软爪吉蒂合作，从贼人夫妇杰克和吉尔手中偷来魔豆，去到传说中的巨人城堡，把会下金蛋的小鹅带到凡间。然而，这时候，靴子猫却发现这一切都是矮蛋为了复仇设下的圈套：不光要靴子猫锒铛入狱，还要刻意引来鹅妈妈，将整个圣里卡多毁掉。最后，靴子猫在吉蒂的帮助下，逃离监狱并且说服矮蛋回心转意，拯救圣里卡多，挽救他们的友谊。

　　Puss: Revenge on me is one thing, but why Imelda? Why the orphanage? This is our home.
　　Humpty: You mean your home. I…I never belonged here. We had a plan to get out of here, but then you became a hero and you picked this place over me. You left me with nothing.
