Upon entering Shemai Village of Sheshung Town inTengchen County, we were shocked by the strikinglynew appearance of the village. How could it be possiblein such a deserted area to suddenly erect so many newhouses? This change actually happened over ten years butit seems incredible.
In 1960, Sheshung District was set up in this area. Later in1988, it was renamed Sheshung Town, consisting of fivevillages: Sheshung Village, Shedui Village, Shala Village,Shemai Village and Langtong Village.
