Reporter: Many students of all ages now 1)sport a personal “Smart Phone” or some kind of texting device. School authorities are trying to play “catch-up” and move on from the traditional computer lab. In the past couple of years several factors have changed, perhaps the major one being better 2)connectivity.
A Teacher(at class): Make sure that you went to Google docs, you shared it with all your tribe members, and also you shared it with me so I could look at your work afterwards.
You know, he designed the app and also he updated the app as the semester went on, and future needs for our particular project arose. It just became so much a part of the cycle of how we got things done that…that it was quite necessary.
Reporter: But schools and colleges have faced issues in the adoption of technology. Low-income students sometimes don’t have a mobile device to receive notifications or email, and some lack any kind of internet connection at home.

Reporter: Every educator we talked to ultimately had the same thing to say: technology is only useful if it melts into the background. Students have to absorb and understand what they’re being taught regardless of the platform or service it’s delivered on.
